MY SISTER'S KEEPER VOCABULARY

Vocabulary:

1. Genetic: relating to genes or heredity.

2. Fertilization: cause to develop a new individual by introducing male reproductive material.

3. Leukaemia: a malignant progressive disease in which the bone marrow and other blood-forming organs produce increased numbers of immature or abnormal leucocytes, suppressing the production of normal blood cells.

4. donate: allow the removal of (blood or an organ) from one's body for transfusion or transplantation.

5. Kidney: either of a pair of bean-shaped organs in the back part of the abdominal cavity that form and excrete urine, regulate fluid and electrolyte balance, and act as endocrine glands.

6. Emancipation : to free (a slave) from bondage.

7. Epilepsy: is a common chronic neurological disorder characterized by seizures.[

8. Cancer: a malignant and invasive growth or tumor, especially one originating in epithelium, tending to recur after excision and to metastasize to other sites.

15. Patient: a person who is under Medical care or treatment.

17. Love: a profoundly tender, passionate affection for another person.

18. Death: the act of dying; the end of life; the total and permanent cessation of all the vital functions of an organism. Compare brain death.

19. Relationship: connection between persons by blood or marriage.

20. Judge: a public officer authorized to hear and decide cases in a court of law; a magistrate charged with the administration of justice.
